5th China International SF Conference
Last November, I attended the 5th China International SF Conference in Chengdu, China. Science fiction is taken very seriously in China. The mayor of Chengdu, a city with a population of more than 16 million, appeared in the convention’s opening ceremonies and hosted a dinner for foreign guests of the convention. Chengdu is bidding for the 2023 World Science Fiction convention. I’m hoping they’ll win, since I’d love to go back.
